community service

We believe in giving back to our communities by making the lives of shelter dogs better.

In 2014, Pit Stop Pit Bull Rescue Transport in conjunction with Friends of Clay County Animals embarked on an Extreme Shelter Makeover.

During this Extreme Makeover we completed projects like:

  • Cleaning
  • Landscaping
  • New Signage
  • Fencing
  • Painted Kennels and Administration Buildings

pit stop taxi services

Want to help, but don't like long distance drives? You can volunteer for our  Pit Stop Taxi Service.

In an effort to provide additional support services to local shelters and rescues we would like to be able to provide a lift for those animals on the go. This taxi service would provide rides to places like the vets office, foster homes, or adoption events.

We need to grow our volunteer base for local transports so please sign-up as a Volunteer to help us make this program a success!

toys for transport program

Often times on transport animals are scared and confused.  As a way to help calm them we decided to start providing a toy that they could cuddle with on their journey.  This has now grown into a wonderful program where we provide toys and treats to every animal on transport with us.

We are lucky enough to have two great supporters that collect donations for us.

  • Pet Supermarket Beach Blvd. - Jacksonville Beach, FL
  • Earth Pets San Jose - Jacksonville, FL

If you would like to help by providing items for our Toys For Transport Program we can always use nylabones, kongs, balls, plush toys, treats, collars, leashes, blankets, etc.  or if you are interested in being a donation location, please email us at contactus@pspbrt.org.

You can drop off donations at either location or make a monetary donation to PitStop Pit Bull Rescue Transport via PayPal (donate@pspbrt.org) denoting the Toys for Transport Program.

support services

point to point Transport

Currently we provide transport services along the East Coast of the United States from Florida to NY/NJ and surrounding areas. Capacity depends on available transporter(s).

Although our goal is to transport larger breed dogs as they have a harder time being adopted out of Florida and Georgia's shelter system, we don't discriminate.  In our first year we have transported many breeds including Chi's, Miniature Pinchers, German Sheppards, Pit Bulls, Mastiffs, and Labs.

Pit Stop Pit Bull Rescue Transport was started in February of 2014 with one primary goal -  Help Save Lives.  After working as a volunteer for 5 years for other shelter and rescue groups we found it was time to venture out on our own to help fill some of the gaps we had seen.

Since the recession in late 2006 shelters and rescues continue to struggle to make ends meet often having to make some very tough decisions. Our goal is to provide support services to the shelters and rescues of North Florida and South Georgia.

These services not only include transport services from kill shelters to rescues located throughout the East Coast of the U.S,  but also medical, boarding, and training sponsorships.

In addition, we provide community service support to shelters to allow them to some of the nice to haves they are unable to attain due to limited funding.  Our goal is to complete at least one community service project per year.

We look forward to an even more successful 2016!
